# What is After Market Order (AMO) & its timings?

## Short answer

You can place After Market Orders (AMO) outside regular trading hours, and they execute once the market opens. When you place orders outside market hours, they automatically convert to AMO orders.

You can use AMOs for all product types including Longterm (CNC), Intraday (MIS), and Overnight (NRML), except for Iceberg and Cover Orders (COs).

## Sell order restrictions

If you have not submitted a DDPI or POA:

You can place CNC/MTF Sell AMO for stocks bought on T day only on the next day (T+1 day) after 6:30 AM

You can place CNC/MTF Sell AMO for stocks already delivered to your demat account after 5 PM

This restriction exists because the system accepts TPIN authorisation after 5:00 PM for AMOs. You can submit DDPI to overcome this limitation.

## AMO timings

You can place, modify, or cancel AMOs only during these times:

AMOs for current month index futures and current month stock futures can be placed until 8:58 AM.

The AMOs are sent to the exchange at the following times:

Regular orders placed after market hours will automatically be placed as AMOs.

## Things to keep in mind

When you initiate orders outside market hours via Arrow baskets and the TFC feature on ChartIQ and TradingView, they also become AMOs automatically.

You can only place AMOs for ETFs if you select the disclosed quantity feature. You can also use Good Till Triggered (GTT) for placing long-standing orders.

Orders with the GTT checkbox selected in the order window will not be accepted. You must deselect the stop loss or target GTT option.

You cannot place AMOs for stocks under periodic call auction.

You cannot place AMOs between 1:00 AM and 5:30 AM due to scheduled maintenance.
