# How to apply for Buyback through the open market?

> You cannot apply for buyback through the open market, as this option has been discontinued.

## Short answer

You cannot apply for buyback through the open market, as this option has been discontinued.

## What happened to open market buybacks?

Companies previously could buy back shares by actively purchasing them from sellers on the exchange. However, as per current regulations (WEB), since 1st April 2025, companies no longer have the option to conduct open market buybacks through the stock exchange.

Companies can still conduct buybacks through tender offers.
